On the final day of paralympics competition, Team Asia finished strong winning 3 out of a possible 8 Gold medals. Team Europe tied the effort also winning 3 Golds while Team America took the remain 2 Golds.

Although Team Asia came within 2 Gold medals shy of their Athens performance, it's encouraging to note that they did it in a year that saw 46 fewer Gold medals handed out. Comparatively, Team Europe won 36 fewer Golds this year than in Athens.

The final stats for the Beijing 2008 Parlympic Games are as follows:

Team Asia - 147 Gold, 146 Silver, 128 Bronze, 421 Total
Team Europe - 188 Gold, 227 Silver, 244 Bronze, 659 Total
Team America - 87 Gold, 68 Silver, 89 Bronze, 244 Total
Team Africa - 51 Gold, 30 Silver, 26 Bronze, 107 total
On Day 10, Team Asia had modest results at the athletics events, winning 6 Golds out of the possible 17. However, they owned the indoor events, winning Gold at all events including Table Tennis, Basketball, Power-lifting, and Wheelchair Fencing. With those performances, Team Asia won a total of 15 Golds, bringing them to 144 and within 4 of matching their effort at Athens.

Team Europe won 9 more Golds on the day and have 185 while Team America won 7 Golds to total 85. Team Africa gained another 6 Golds bringing their total to 51.

Winning 24 Gold medals on Day 9 allowed Team Asia to gain some ground on Team Europe who missed a small beat by tallying 17 Golds -- 7 less than Asia. The two teams now have 129 and 176 Gold medal totals respectively. Team America won 6 Golds on the day, totaling 78 and Team Africa gathered another 7 Golds, bringing their sum to 45.

With 2 days left, Team Asia has a legitimate chance at cracking their Gold medal total from Athens. They need only 20 more after today's inspirational performance. Let's go Asia!
On Day 8, Team Asia put in their strongest performance of this 2008 Paralympic Games by tallying 22 Gold Medals and boosting their total to 105 Golds. But Team Europe kept up their frenzied pace by producing 19 Golds on the day and increasing their total to 159 Golds, which tops the regional field. Team America added 10 Golds to their total (72) and Africa now has 41 after winning 5 additional Gold medals.
7 Days have completed and the Gold medal and overall standings has remained very much the same since Day 3 when Team Asia surpassed Team America for 2nd place on the Gold medal chart. Upon Day 7's conclusion, Team Asia scored 15 more Golds to widen their lead over Team America who gained 9 more Golds while Africa added 7 more. Team Europe garnered another 18 Gold medals and remain in the lead with 140.
After Day 6 and half-way through the Paralympics competition, Team Europe remains in top place with 122 Gold medals while Team Asia stays behind with 68 Golds. Team America and Team Africa follow with 53 and 29 Gold medals apiece respectively. The regional order for overall medals mirror that of the Gold medals race with Team Europe leading the way and Teams Asia, America, and Africa following suite.

A strong effort during the remaining days of competition will be needed for Team Asia to surpass their performance at the 2004 Athens games when they won 149 total Gold medals.  Let's all root and cheer for a strong second-half performance!  LET'S GO ASIA, LET'S GO!!
Day 5 of Paralympics competition saw Team Asia winning an additional 20 more Gold medals, bringing their total to 58. They now have 190 overall medals at the games. A large collection of Asia's Gold medals come from China and Australia who are both ranked in the top 5 for nations with Gold medals. Team America added 7 more Golds and now have 43 and 115 total medals.. Europe remains atop the leaderboard with 94 Golds and 318 total medals. Team Africa now has 23 Gold medals and 46 overall.
At the end of Day 4, Team Asia accumulated 38 Gold medals and stays ahead of Team America with 36 Golds, but still trail Team Europe who who has 72 Golds.  On the overall medals race, Team Asia has a comfortable 47 medals lead over America and is in second place behind Team Europe.
